STRAY DOGS
'we are the Stray Dogs, searching for...'
STRAY DOGS is a Hyper-Pop photo series I've been working on since my three-week trip to Japan in July 2024. I went into this trip heavily inspired by Japanese photographer Daidō Moriyama, and his stylized, bleak street snapshot photography of Tokyo.
Creating my own body of work with this influence, I wanted to comment on the dreamlike, romanticized destination Japan has become for the modern dissociated youth. Walking around this current-day Vegas, I was swept up by all the bright noises and sounds, as well as the deep embedding of pop culture into society. With the amount of products and services being shoved down my throat in every advertisement and store, I felt like I was the product, walking around being sold to companies.
Looking back on this trip now, I'm left with a Dream- a false facade of memory of only select cherry-picked emotions that are fuzzy and nondescript. The images in this series seek to be a digital and physical representation of my time wandering the streets.
